History of IBOThe International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) was established in 1968 Geneva, Switzerland. Their goal was to provide an international education to students that would teach them the skills needed to navigate the complex world. The program started in private international schools, but now exists in many public schools all around the world. This means that Marietta High School students can receive the same excellent education of a private international school for free!

Our PhilosophyThe IB philosophy centers on learners within our global world with the aim to help students develop the approaches to teaching and learning they need for success both now and in the future. What does this mean in practice?
It means that classes are student-focused, that teaching is designed to help students engage in higher level inquiry, and that students are encouraged to explore and construct their own personal and cultural identities. |
Our GoalMarietta High School’s mission is to foster creativity and critical thinking to develop compassionate citizens and life-long learners in a diverse world. As a part of that mission, the IB programs and course offerings at MHS provide a variety of ways for students to engage in higher-level learning that develops the skills they need to be successful in whatever they choose to do after high school. Our goal in the IB Office is help students find ways to use IB to reach their goals.
